PSN-Login working again plus support for Facebook login

You may have noticed, that Sony closed their PSN login for external websites. No PS3 fanpage can currently log you in through that page to access your trophies.

I tried to contact Sony through mail, twitter, facebook and their forums but got no reply at all. So I decided to work around this and implement two different ways for you to give PS3Heroes access to that precious PSN sessionId....

The whole process for updating your trophies mainly stays the same. But you now can choose wether you enter the PSN login data on a secure PS3Heroes website so that the server can do the login in the background. Or you log in to the PSN manually and give PS3Heroes the sessionId by copy & paste. The whole process should be self-explaining. At least that's what I hope :)

Sony shut down the PSN login, while I was adding support for Facebook login. I now finished it and thus you're now able to use you Facebook login to access PS3Heroes. When you use it the first time, you will need to log in to PSN, so that the correct PSN-ID can be assigned.

And as a small addition, you now can add a Google+ account t o your PS3Heroes profile :)

Specify which games you own

Right now PS3Heroes compiles a list of your games based on the trophies you earned. This works pretty good and prevents ratings from people who don't actually own the game.

But what if you just played the game for an evening you will never again play it? From now on, you can hide those games from your list of games! You do this by selecting the appropriate option from the right sidebar on a game's detailed view.

Those trophies still count against your overall number of trophies, but the games simply do not show up on your profile or your dashboard.

On the same place, you now can tell, wether you still own a game, or would be willing to sell/swap/rent it. This feature is still a couple of weeks ago, but it should help you getting new games without paying to much, or anything at all.

New Feature: Email notifications in the forums

From now on, when you create a new topic in the forums or comment on an existing topic, you can choose to be notified by email if any other comment comes up for this topic.

The email you get will contain the complete message of that comment, a link to this comment and a quick-link to remove further notifications.

You can also manage your notifications at the E-Mail-Tab in your settings.

These notifications also work on the new PSP Heroes - Forums. Notifiations for other commentable parts of this site are likely to follow :)

New Trophy-Sync now live!

When logged in, you will now find a new link to Update my trophies! in the sidebar, where you manually can activate a synchronization of all your trophies. This will also retrieve those trophies that PS3Heroes previously could not get.

Right now every game of your account is examined on each sync. This is not really neccessary, but right now I wanted to make sure I get all the data, instead of starting with time optimization. But this will follow soon!

The old, automatically update is still in place, but will not show any hidden trophy, or those that are not on the public PSN pages - just like it is right now, with the hidden trophies being the exception.

Syncing will also automatically update the trophy images, so you can actively help PS3Heroes to become an even better place for PS3 trophies. Thank you a lot for that!

About accessing PSN accounts

As I tweeted last weekend, I was working on accessing the private PSN profile pages to get access to all those games that are yet not on the public profile pages and also to get more information about hidden trophies.

The good thing is: it is possible! The bad thing: Updates of those trophies cannot be made automatically. The time-to-live of the session is just too short, so that I cannot re-use it a few hours later to get your newly earned trophies.

I will continue to work on this, though, because being able to access this data is useful enough, although it would mean for you to go to PS3Heroes.com and re-authorize the PSN access all the time. But: your PSN login data would be perfectly save, as it's not me who asks for your login credentials, but Playstation.com themselves.

With this, I can also verify your account, so I actually know, that it is *you* who has access to this PSN account.

There is still some work to do, as I need to find a good way to match all those new games to already existing ones. The given IDs between the public and private PSN profile pages do not match, of course. So I need to write some extra code to match those games and trophies to the ones I already have on PS3Heroes.

Another odd thing is, that the private profile pages don't show the exact time when you earned a trophy, but rather something like "2 weeks ago". That makes it even harder for me to match existing ones - especially when it comes to hidden trophies.

So, it might take a couple of more weeks to complete this stuff, but maybe I will put something online in beta, so you guys can try it out.

At least you will find information about game's trophies much earlier and there will also be hints on what to do to get hidden trophies. All this alone is worth implementing it, I think.

Status Update

OK, there have been some problems here on PS3Heroes.com and some of them are still in place. I just wanted to let you know, what is happening.

The latest problem was (it is being fixed right now), that all trophy numbers were just gone. I cannot say how that happened, but I guess that at the last update on these numbers, the servers at SONY did either not respond, or the respond looked not like anything it should normally look like.

As I said, this problem is being fixed right now. This crawl gets the actual numbers from SONY's pages and then will also display them on your profile. But I still need to fix setting all trophies to 0, so that something like this cannot happen again.

If you activated the Twitter Trophycard Background, this will be updated within then next couple of hours - it should be, because the numbers change and thus, the background should be re-generated. I guess I will be able to check this in the morning...

The problem that already occured last week were the missing avatar pictures. I wanted to look into this tonight and then got aware of the trophy-count problem. So I hope I will be able to look into the avatar pictures tomorrow.

Sorry for that, but the few days after my holiday had been rather busy, so I couldn't look into it any earlier...

Link your videos to games

So, since yesterday you're able to show your YouTube videos on PS3Heroes. But now you can also link the videos to a specific game!

You can see an example of this at the Hustle Kings Uservideos. To not only show your videos on PS3Heroes, but also add them to a game, just add the Game Tag which you can find in the Uservideos tab at each game.

In the next couple of days, I will also add a tab called Videos to your hero profile, which will contain all your shared videos.

Just as you can already do with your tweets you now can also do with your YouTube-Videos!

Just add the tag ps3 to them and PS3Heroes crawls them and shows them on your action stream. Just go to the settings and enable the feature under Show my Videos.

Please note that the videos will show up in your action stream at the date when they were uploaded to YouTube. Thus, older videos might not be shown on the front page - and yes: a pagination of the action stream is still planned! :-)

Actionstream now on user profile page

As you can see on the profiles from Jander and XombieDIRGE, the action stream now also is shown on the profile pages.

In addition to the front page, it also displays earned trophies, although only a few of them, most of the time. I need to figure out how to display this best.

Some kind of pagination or more button to see further into the past, is coming, too! If there also will be the ability to filter out certain actions, will be evaluated after everyone got used to the new action streams.

With the new setting Yes, show my tweets containing #ps3!, you can now put your PS3-Tweets on PS3Heroes without leaving your Twitter client.

Just activate the feature (you might need to give PS3Heroes access to your twitter stream, if you yet didn't do so) and then add the hashtag #ps3 to any tweet you make.

Right now your twitter timeline is crawled every 5 minutes and after that your PS3-Tweets show up on PS3Heroes.com.

Links and Mentions in your tweets will soon be clickable, too.

Help PS3Heroes and upload trophy images!

As you can see at the example MAG, PS3Heroes now supports images for trophies. These images can not be assigned automatically, so I need your help.

When you are logged in and on the trophy page of a game, you now can simply click on the default image for the trophy and a new form will open up. In this, you can paste the URL of the trophy image you find somewhere else on the web.

Different graphic formats are recognized, but you should try to find images with at least 64x64 pixels.

Thanks for everyone who is helping, those images will soon be used for real trophycards from PS3Heroes.

In the Settings, there is now a new Tab Buttons, where you can copy the HTML- or BBCode for your personal PS3Heroes-Button.

If now image appears on that page, please just tell me and I will create the image initially for you. It might take a couple of more hours to do so automatically. After that, the image updates your new trophies automatically.

MAG Patch V1.05 on monday

Improved the automatic Leadership selection criteria to make players with microphones more likely to be selected than those without them (note: this does not prevent players without microphones from being selected as leaders)
Adjusted automatic Leadership selection criteria to include Leadership point total in preference formula.

Technical

Repaired bug that prevented players who were incapacitated and then revived from throwing grenades until they reload.
Fixed issue with the game lock-ups caused by “hanging” black screen following the conclusion of a gameplay round.

Little Big Planet 2 for PS3 confirmed?

There was a tweet on ochremusic‘s Timeline on April 16th where he announced he had just licensed a song of him to Sony. He also wrote in that tweet, that his song Infotain Me was licensed by Sony to be used in Little Big Planet 2 for the Playstation 3.

No comment from Sony on that topic, but the tweet itself is no longer in ochremusic's timeline...

Strategic Maps for MAG

You can now download all 12 maps from MAG. For each game type and each of the three companies Raven, S.V.E.R. and Valor.

But don't be too excited, because although they state they're releasing ultra hi-res imagery, the maximum size is 1024x1024 pixel, which gives you barely an overview, but no real details.

Update: Beside the original MAG-Flickr account, where the maps are hosted, there is also another Flickr account with actual Hi-Res images in this set.

GT 5 to sell 3 Million PS3?

According to this article, 33% of all people waiting for Gran Turismo 5 yet don't have a Playstation 3. As there is an estimated 10 Million copies of GT 5 to be sold, that would mean about 3 Million proud new members of a PS3.

Uncharted 2 Siege Expansion DLC

On April 22nd, the new Uncharted 2 DLC Siege Expansion will be available for €5.99 on PSN.

It comes with 6 character skins, 2 new maps (The Museum and The Highrise) and 11 new trophies (10 Bronze and 1 Silver). It also includes a brand new multiplayer gameplay for 2-3 players.

The new gameplay mode called Siege is a cooperative mode, where you need to fight against rounds of enemies and need to reach various checkpoints.

Maybe I should think about re-buying Uncharted, after I sold it last christmas after I played through it...

Confusion about new MAG update

Last friday, there was a post in german on playstation's europe forum which contained detailed information about an upcoming patch for MAG.

Later that day, the discussion reached the MAG forum, as there was no post on MAG's blog about this new patch.

It now seems, as if there actually is a new patch in the works, but no details were confirmed by Zipper, the maker of MAG.

The german post noted April 22nd as release date for that patch, so let us all wait and see...

About the PS3 Linux mess

This is a bit old news, but it seems to get a lot of attention. Even some XBox guys couldn't hold on to comment, as every new update to the XBox brings something new, while the PS3 update now will cut down Linux support. You cannot argue that this is not true, but it's very laughable when you think about that it is not possible to just put any 2.5" harddrive into your XBox... But that's another story.

I think it's a pity SONY acts like this. I can understand that they want to protect the platform from getting hacked and therefore may loose attraction to game publishers.

I don't know of the ability to run Linux on the PS3 is really such a big security concern for SONY, but I can imagine it is. Running Linux on PS3 is just a way to get around the normal OS of the console, but accessing almost everything else. And you will be able to run an operating system (Linux) on it, where every byte of it is available as source code.

So, running Linux on PS3 is probably a harm to SONY. And therefore it is legit to cut down this support. When people complain they did not buy that version of a PS3 to not be able to run Linux on it, I can say: you're right. You have a console that currently runs Linux. Just don't install the update!

The only bad thing about this is, that my personal win on consoles over PCs is, that you can play any game even years after you bought the console. Try this with a PC that is one year old: you do not get the full game experience - mostly graphic wise.

But with this next update, users of Linux on their PS3 have to make a decision: either installing the update, which will make their Linux system useless and they cannot access it anymore. Or the ignore the update, but then will no longer be able to play online.

And this is something where I really go mad, as I don't need the necessarity for that. Banning Linux with an update to protect the platform, OK. But not allowing access to PSN and therefore banning the users from using large parts of their gaming device? This is not far away from the banning of some cracked and manipulated consoles Microsoft did with their XBox.

I don't think this kind of banning is really necessary, and therefore every PS3 Linux owner has every right to be upset. This behavior of SONY is just to get as many PS3 owners as possible to install the update. Nothing more. And I feel betrayed as a customer - even if I do not run Linux on my PS3.

Back from my trip to New York

Sorry for the calm days, but as I'm now back from my little vacation, you can expect more news in the blog and also some more features. In fact, I already started at the forums for PS3Heroes while waiting for boarding in Newark airport :-)

Although the trip was great (if you like to see some photos, check them here), there was one big disappointment: the Sony Style Store

I expected a fun area with a lot of people playing on a Playstation 3 and a big selection of PS3 games. I wanted to get a copy of God of War III as a little for myself.

But all I saw was a very sparse area with two PS3 that had old games on it and to buy games, you would have to go to a counter to ask for them. No browsing through a display to see what I also could like.

Even the integrated Starbucks was bigger than the gaming area! I know the SONY Store in San Francisco and this is just great. The least thing I expected for New York was a place like that in SF.

So I guess I will buy God Of War 3 probably at Amazon.co.uk :-)

Here we are! I hope you like the new design and don't get confused by some of the new navigation structures. Take your time to go through the site. Every old feature should be there, if not, please let me know what you are missing. Some things changed for a reason, while others simply might just got left behind somewhere :-)

So, what is new? As I said yesterday, this relaunch is mostly about the new design and structure. But at least two new features made it into this release!

First of all, there are different backgrounds on various games. Right now I just finished about 10% of all the games, but I will add them step by step during the next weeks. Here are a few examples: Heavy Rain, Burnout Paradise or Battlefield Bad Company 2. Those backgrounds do not only look great, but you can also choose to use it as background for your own profile. Can you guess from which game the background on my profile is?

To select such a background for your profile, just log in, go to the game's page and click on Use as my background. I also plan to let you upload your own background pictures when you don't like the one from the games. And clans will be able to upload their own background images, too. But this has to wait for now...

Another new feature for clans actually is available right now. This is the second new thing on PS3Heroes.com and introduces a very basic form of a forum for clans. It is nothing more than comments to the clan right now, but only members of the clan will be able to read and write them. I am still thinking about how to add a forum to the site, so that it makes sense and is integrated with the rest of the features. But we will go there, I'm sure!

Again a big Thank You to Alex "Poolie" Kaiser (Web | Twitter | PS3Heroes) and Mario Volke (Web | Twitter) for the great work on making this design happen. Both of them created and developed the basics for this design month ago for NoseRub and it now finally came to life on PS3Heroes.com.

I hope everyone is as happy with this new PS3Heroes as I am! Keep on gaming...

Since yesterday you now can place yourself on on a map and see who plays around you. To do so, just go to the settings and enter an address. This does not to be 100% accurate where you live, just entering your City and Country should do the trick.

The map soon will be shown on your own profile in the Contact tab and also to display your sidekicks and the members of your clan.

That's a tough call, but as a reaction to their latest problem a lot of gamers appreciate the fast response - although many may be pissed, too.

SONY also confirmed, that the problem does not occur with the newer PS3 Slim model. A software patch for the other owners should be ready within 24 hours. I guess there will be a lot of coffee drinking at SONY tonight...

Update: SONY announced that the problem is resolved now. With the next day change, everything is working normal. Although the calculation of the leap year was defect, the next day change resolved that issue.

If your PS3 still is showing a wrong date today, just go to your settings and change it.

Players cannot connect to PSN anymore (Update)

SONY's massive re-design yesterday seems now also to affect people to connect to the PSN.

Strangely enough, only players with one of the newer PS3 slim models can connect. SONY asks to follow their twitter account for more updates.

Update: It might be a problem with the leap year calculation, as some PS3 show 2000-02-29 instead of 2010-03-01. Somehow funny, if it's not your PS3 that is affected...

SONY is currently heavily working on their public profile pages, as you can see here: http://us.playstation.com/publictrophy/index.htm?onlinename=dirk_olbertz. I used that data and also the detailed data about your trophies for each game to update your profile page on PS3Heroes.

This data was crucial for my service to update your twitter timeline with new trophies. About 6 hours ago the last updates could be read from SONYs public profile pages.

Right now I'm not even able to access my public profile page in Firefox and am only able to see my public profile in Safari. I'm not able to access my trophy data without being logged in with Safari, though.

I guess SONY is still working on their site, but I definitely will need to adjust the crawler of PS3Heroes to be able to update your trophies again. I really hope they do not shut sites like PS3Heroes.com down by not showing the trophy data and not providing a proper API at the same time.

Multilanguage issues at PS3Heroes

PS3Heroes is multilingual. The site itself is available in German and English and registered users come from all over the world.

Right now, I already saved a language token next to every comment. From now on, this is not only German or English, but any language that you're comfortable with. PS3Heroes tries to guess your language based on your browser. But you now can also go to the settings and tell PS3Heroes your default language.

When you now look at comments, you will not only see the ones from your language, but also probably a few others - like German for example. If you do not want to see those by default, you can now select the Hide foreign comments option in the settings. From that moment on, all comments from a language that do not fit your default language, will be hidden through a small javascript routine.

When comments actually were hidden, you will see a Toggle foreign comments link with which you will be able to show/hide those foreign comments. This way you will not miss any comment, but as a default only see the ones you're probably most comfortable with.

Regardless of this, you can now tell PS3Heroes for every comment you make, which language you use. The default selection will be your default language to make it easier for you.

Here is how I will use this settings: I will not hide foreign comments and set my default language to German. When someone makes a comment in Englisch, I now can set the language for my answering comment to English as well and make sure the questioner will understand me.

I will add some more tweaks to this, like displaying the language next to a comment and whatever comes across. Having a multilangual site is not easy, but it's fun to think about how to fit all this together :-)

Gameplay

Overhauled tuning of multiple weapons of all types (see “Weapon” section below)
Improved speed of weapon and gear swapping by approximately 500 milliseconds.
Fixed bug in SVER’s Aralkum Mechanical Acquisition map and Absheron Refinery Domination map that allowed players to defuse a charge planted on a repaired gate or door.
Added a “solid tone” sound effect near the end of a charge’s beeping detonation timer so that players know when the charge can no longer be defused and that they should vacate the area.
“Medium Improved” Armor now works as intended with the speed properties of Medium Armor and a defensive value greater than Medium, but less than Heavy Armor.
Changed resuscitated player’s camera orientation to match the last camera direction used while incapacitated instead of the pre-harm camera.
Players no longer lose XP if a teammate is killed by an objective explosion caused by a charge they planted.
Respec Point requirements in Barracks have been changed from 3K, 5K, 10K, 17K, 26K, and 26K-Repeat to 1K, 2K, 3K, and 3K-Repeat.
Lowered the amount of damage necessary to kill an incapacitated enemy
All fired projectiles (RPGs, Turret Rockets) have been given a steadier aim.
Mines that haven’t been triggered are no longer removed from the map when the dead player that deploys them respawns unless that player changes their Loadout (note: The maximum number of mines you can plant cannot exceed the number you initially spawn with).
Fixed bug that prevented “fully-resuscitated” players with more than 100 health points from receiving their full HP.
Fixed bug that caused players to take unnecessary damage from both friendly and enemy vehicles when touching them.
Players no longer lose leadership points after entering “Veteran Mode.”

Weapons

“From the hip” firing for Light and Medium machine guns have stronger recoil and are less accurate when moving.
Tuned weapon damage for all three factions.
Modified all short-ranged weapons (pistols, PDWs, shotguns, SMGs) so that they’re less effective at long distances.
Made Battle Rifles more effective.
Reduced accuracy bonus for using iron sights and reflex sights so that players can no longer snipe with weapons that aren’t intended to do so.
Increased damage values for all rockets to make them more effective (ex: three rockets can now destroy a DE turret).
Shooting through thin materials (fences, tents, etc.) will be more consistent.
Increased spread on shotguns.
Improved animations for rocket launchers.

Graphics

Fixed bug that caused the recoil animation to end early or stop animating if a player was firing their weapon for a long period of time.
Changed detonation time on smoke and poison gas grenades to prevent them from exploding in mid-air to eliminate unintended FX issues.
Added realistic fogging effects to sky-domes.

Technical

Fixed most conditions that caused players to be caught in a “respawn loop” which kept restarting the respawn queue when the countdown clock reached 0.
Changed in-game conditions to make it less likely to experience in-game freezes.
Improved client-side stability.

Update: Sorry! Natal is of course XBox only and this is a PS3 site. I don't have anything against the XBox, I just don't want one and certainly do not want to bore you with news for this console. On the other hand you see how much this whole Wii-like controller for PS3 really interests me...

My pre-ordered copy of Heavy Rain (UK, US) should arrive next saturday morning and until that, I would like to get to Level 60 in MAG.

After that I want to start over with another team (like Prestige-Mode in MW2). Right now I'm at level 37 and plan to get to a level between 40 and 45 today. Still al lot to play in the evenings of next week, as next weekend is reserved for Heavy Rain :-)

Is there actually someone out there who is using Playstation Home? I tried it a couple of times, but downloading updates all the time and not being able to visit spaces that interested me (I live in Germany and somehow we're not allowed to see a lot of spaces) just made this a very boring experience.

So, why do you use Playstation Home? Whenever I have to time to start my PS3, I don't think twice wether to play a game or visits Playstation Home. What is it, that you are doing in Home?

2 patches for MAG

One is for the client and updates the game to Version 1.02. The other is a server patch which is going on right now.

There is no information available on what the server patch does, but the client patch is mostly about smaller fixes. XP for Level 36 and 37 was reduced and a lot of useful changes were made to the on screen display during the game.

You now no longer see the icon of fallen soldiers, if you cannot help them. And a distance information to those fallen soldiers, as well as to mines (if you can detect them) was added.

DLC for Uncharted 2 with new Trophies and Maps

On February 25th a DLC for Uncharted 2 comes to the US. It will cost $5.99 as bundle or $3.99 for new multiplayer maps plus $2.99 for new skins.

As the original release of Among Thieves had no multiplayer trophies, they are added to the game with this DLC. A complete list can be seen at the source. I'm not sure if the mentioned In Game Medals are trophies as well, or some other kind of rewards.

How to rate games?

I would like to add ratings for games to PS3Heroes, but am struggeling with the rating system. There will be stars, but I also want to associate stars with a short description, so that they hopefully make more sense.

This is one idea:

0 Stars: Cannot say yet
1 Star:I didn't like it
2 Stars: It's OK
3 Stars: I enjoyed it
4 Stars: I recommend it

Recommending a game actually is some kind of special, because I want to create another service based on this: finding games that you also might like. So, if your friends recommend games, that might be a good game for you, although the whole calculation will be a lot more complicated...

So, what do you think? I had problems to find a game that I enjoyed but would not recommend. But now I found them: Critter Crunch and Pixeljunk Shooter. Both really good games, but I wouldn't say everyone should have it :-)

What do you think? You will not be able to rate games that you do not own and you will always be able to write a comment to a rating you make.

No Indy Cars in Gran Turismo 5

First they announced that racecars from the Indy Car series would be part of Gran Turismo 5, but now the Official Playstation Magazine had to stay corrected. So, no Indy Cars for GT 5, but at least the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will still be included in the track list of the game.

My first impressions of Battlefield Bad Company 2

To summarize it: good graphic, some cool ideas, but the controls totally fail on me. Why is that? I never previously thought about this, so that is why I am so disturbed with the controls in Battlefield Bad Company 2: when you use the right analog stick to look around and the left analog to move, there is just a 360° of freedom thing for both sticks. Not in BFBC 2!

If you move your right stick between 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock you still go only straight where you look at. This is very disturbing. I played MAG and CoD MW 2 a lot recently, but this is probably not the only reason why the controls on BFBC 2 freak me out like that. I think it is different to any other game on the PS3 that uses the two analog sticks in that way.

But maybe you can get over this issues (I'm pretty certain I will not buy this game, when those controls stay the way they are), so let me describe some more stuff. Yes, I just played it for about 30 minutes, but I also just started playing MAG last weekend, so I can tell what I like about a game just after a few rounds.

This Demo of Battlefield Bad Company 2 comes with a few different classes, just as you would expect it. When you die you will need to wait a few seconds before you respawn and get some stats about your killer in the meantime. Sometime this was just a static screen and sometimes similar to CoD MW 2 the last few seconds of your life, as seen by the killer.

The class I selected had an assault rifle with an attached grenade launcher. I couldn't kill anyone with the rifle itself for the first 10 minutes and I also didn't get any indicator that I hit someone. So my first two kills where with the grenade launcher. That gave me 50 points each - you need about 6,000 (or were it 7,000?) to get to the next level on your character...

In the 30 minutes I played, I got about 600 points (yes, I really suck at those games, but have fun with them anyhow). But that gave me no upgrades at all. There are several different weapons and things you can upgrade, but I'm also not sure how to get those. Maybe some 30 minutes more would get me there...

The game type on my first round was to defend. There were 2 buildings which needed to be protected and the other team tries to blow it up by attaching explosives to it. The first thing you notice in BFBC 2 is, that you can blow up a lot of stuff: trees, boxes which are lying around and barracks will also suffer when you throw grenades into them.

The other thing you notice are the different vehicles you can use: quads, tanks, helicopters just stood around for you to use. I also saw some bombers in the sky and I also read about drones that you can use to bomb your enemies.

So, after some time I managed to kill some enemies with the rifle and actually you get an indicator that you hit someone - I guess I just didn't hit anyone before :-)

That's all I remember noteworthy right now and even after typing this much text, I still am upset about the controls and I'm looking forward to other reviews to see if I'm the only strange guy who forgets about 80% of the game, because controlling it just does not feel right...

AvP Multipalyer Demo tomorrow

Mass Effect 2 for PS3?

There are only little signs, but anyway: in the sourcecode of Mass Effect for PC there is a passage that shows different configurations for PC, XBox and PS3.

So let's wait and see. There are enough good games for the PS3 to play in the meantime :-)

Update: This sounds plausible: Unreal Engine is cross-platform, hence the PS3 code. This was brought up back in Mass Effect 1 days as well. Mass Effect is for the PC and Xbox 360. Source

A little bit of Schadenfreude for the PS3 owners over their XBox 360 counterparts: when playing Final Fantasy on XBox 360, you well need to be a Disc Jockey. As those DVDs contain less space than PS3's BluRay discs, there is no other way.

Reminds me of the ancient ages, when I used to play games on my Amiga 500 and needed to change discs during a game, too...

NieR Replicant in April

NieR Replicant will be released on April 22nd worldwide. The XBox version will be called NieR Gestalt and will also differ in gameplay. PS3 gamers will play a young NieR and your quest is to save his younger sister. On XBox, the player controls an older NieR and saves his daughter.

I wonder wether the rest of the gameplay just is the same with some different texts and characters.

For a few days now, PS3Heroes' twitter updates on your trophies are a bit more extended. When only one trophy is mentioned in a tweet, the kind of trophy you won is now shown, too.

I'm also working on a way to display the name of the game and also list the number of trophies for each kind, when there was more than one trophy earned in a tweet. I only somehow need to fit all this into 140 characters :-)
